Audition form: https://forms.gle/Zp7sLjFjVtkfpc1U6 ABOUT THE SHOW "A Terrible Beauty is Born", written by Thérèse Naccarato, tells the story of a tight knit friend group living in 1916 Ireland at the brink of a national rebellion for independence. As war and conflict seem to draw closer, the characters struggle to find their own way to have a meaningful impact in the world, and support their homeland in its fight for self-determination. Should we always be true to ourselves, even when there is so much more at stake than our own happiness? In a time where so much can be lost, what can sacrifice mean? CHARACTERS: RUAIRÍ DONOVAN (19): Male presenting. A thoughtful, timid poet. He is very in tune with his feelings but struggles with expressing them out loud. DECLAN FITZPATRICK (19): Male presenting. An incredibly passionate Irish nationalist. Declan cares deeply about his country’s liberation, seemingly above all else. CIARÁN MULLENS (19): Originally male, open to any gender / gender presentation. A caring, supportive friend who enjoys teasing the people he loves. Ciarán is not afraid to be vulnerable, and he often utilizes jokes to put others at ease. EVE LYNCH (19): Originally female, open to any gender / gender presentation. Snarky and irritable, at first glance Eve appears to dismiss the people around her. In reality, Eve is very protective of her friends and her tendency to be critical indicates her devotion. NOTE: The play is set in Ireland during 1916, however, applicants may be of any race, ethnicity or gender identity. It is a priority for all of us to make the audition process as accessible as possible, and welcome any and all diverse perspectives interested in helping us bring this story to life. The only constraint regarding this has to do with two characters who engage in a romantic relationship, which is canonically a same sex relationship between two men. Therefore, in the interest of preserving the integrity of the story, the actors who play them should present as male to the audience. With that in mind, any gender identity is still welcome to audition. We’re looking for a videographer and editor for High School Musical! If you’re interested in either position, apply by emailing a statement of interest (and a resume + demo reel if you have one) to [email protected]. Applications are due by February 9, 11:59 PM EST.
