VCDS is still accepting auditions for the character of Ricky Potts in Ride the Cyclone!
SHOW SYNOPSIS: In this hilarious and outlandish story, the lives of six teenagers from a Canadian chamber choir are cut short in a freak accident aboard a roller coaster. When they awake in limbo, a mechanical fortune teller invites each to tell a story to win a prize like no other — the chance to return to life. A funny, moving look at what makes a life well-lived! CHARACTER INFORMATION: A disabled teen from Uranium who has an affinity for cats. He discovers at the beginning of the play that in this strange purgatory the ableist barriers of society have vanished. This discovery propels him to develop a new found confidence. Confidence that inspires him to live out his greatest fantasy of being a space aged bachelor. Baritone rock voice. Consideration for this role will ONLY be permitted to those who identify as having a physical disability. AUDITION INFORMATION: In light of COVID-19, all VCDS auditions will be held online this year. To audition for Ride the Cyclone, record a video of yourself performing by Wednesday, October 7th at midnight. All video auditions must be sent to Maliha and Jeff at [email protected] as an MP4 file. AUDITION REQUIREMENTS: Please prepare two songs (each 1-2 minutes in length) from the contemporary Broadway musical theatre canon that best showcase your vocal range and performance ability. No monologue preparation is required for the first round of auditions. You may either sing acapella or with an instrumental track. In the video, you must state your name, pronouns if you would like, and which songs you will be performing. Please also fill out this Google Form.
