VCDS is so excited to be holding auditions for Ghost Quartet, an amazing musical directed by Tia Dayman and music directed by Chanel Chow!
A show about love, death, and whiskey. A camera breaks and four friends drink in an interwoven tale spanning seven centuries with a murderous sister, a treehouse astronomer, a bear, a subway, and ghosts.
In light of COVID-19, all VCDS auditions will be held online this year. Please submit all auditions to firstname.lastname@example.org by 7 PM Toronto time on Monday, October 12.
Please submit a one-minute video of you singing any song from a contemporary musical, either a capella or self-accompanied (i.e. playing an instrument while singing). If you’re proficient in a musical instrument that you can’t sing while playing, please submit a separate video of you playing that as well (maximum 1 minute per instrument). In the video(s), please state your name, pronouns (if you would like), and which song you will be performing.
In addition, please fill out this audition form before submitting your video. The audition form header also includes information about our plans to rehearse and produce the show in accordance with public health guidelines.
Requests to schedule a callback will be sent by Tuesday, October 13th. Callbacks will be held over Zoom with the production team on the evenings of October 14th to October 17th, and you will be asked to sign up for a time slot.

A note on characters:
Ghost Quartet is not a traditional musical. There are four performer roles that encompass many different characters that are reincarnations of each other. Each performer is also a storyteller existing within and alongside the non-linear narrative. As such, each performer will also play a dramatized version of themselves within the show, acting as a host, storyteller, performer, and character all in one. The central roles of each performer are listed below, along with the original performer on the soundtrack (so you can follow along with who is who if you are confused).
Note that while some of the characters in the script/description are gendered, performers of any gender are encouraged to audition for every role.
We look forward to receiving your auditions! If you have any questions or require accommodations, please email Gil and Alexa at email@example.com!
